Twitterbot created for the University of Victoria's Modern Canadian Poetry course, taught by Dr. Nicholas Bradley (fall 2017), to explore the canon of modern Canadian poetry and the modernist impulse of re-working the old for a contemporary audience. The bot adapts excerpts of modern Canadian poems to create transformative works using generative text—randomly modifying and publishing the poems on Twitter in an exercise in and exploration of the relationships between poetry and social media publication, generative Twitterbots, and regional context. The bot has been active for over three years.

@poemsbot is hosted by Cheap Bots, Done Quick! and was written in Tracery, a tool and language to build grammars for generative text. Tweet at the bot to receive a poem in response.
